Detection of battery is mainly observing the appearance and measuring no-load voltage and load voltage.

(1) Check the battery appearance for the new purchased batteries, to watch whether there is identity intact, such as the model, nominal voltage, production date. Also, we need check if there is any damage playing, leakage, deformation and other issues.
(2) detecting the battery voltage with a multimeter, DC block, the selected range is slightly larger than the nominal voltage. The red pen connect with positive electrode of the battery, the black pen connect with the battery voltage  which is measured as no-load voltage, the voltage value should be not below the nominal voltage (for new battery). The load resistor (the size specified by the manufacturer) connected to a battery of evidence, between the negative electrode, and then measuring the voltage of the battery is using the above method, when the measured voltage value as the load voltage (operating voltage) which  should be approximately nominal voltage (new battery), then the battery is good, if the measured voltage is lower than the nominal voltage  too much, the battery can not continue to use.
